Before you read on, I should warn you in advance that you might be learning about the real truth about why you are shy and not what other people have been telling you all along. Only if you are prepared to learn about the real truth should you read on, if not you should hit the back button or close this browser immediately.

Here is the first secret as to why people are shy: Most shy people are easily controlled by their own emotions. This is the biggest mistake any person can make, and it can easily cause a person to be shy and not be able to feel comfortable in social situations.

Here are some examples as to illustrate this:

  • If you are always trying to avoid people who make you feel uncomfortable and awkward in their presence, then you are being controlled by your emotions.
  • If you avoid crowded places or public speaking because it makes you feel anxious, you are still being controlled by your own emotions.
  • If you choose not to do something because you are afraid of the outcome, then you are being controlled by your emotions.

If you still do not get it, most shy people escape from doing certain things because they do not want to feel the emotions that come along with it. Over the long run, this would cause them to be controlled by their emotions, and it will become a disastrous negative feedback look. In order to get over this shyness, one would have to learn how to be less controlled by their emotions.

This does not necessarily mean that you should suppress your own emotions, but rather learn how to able to act and take actions even if you are feeling these emotions. This is the most simple and basic ability or method to get over any kind of shyness or social anxiety you might have.

How can you achieve this, or how do you know you would have achieved this? To do this properly, you would have to take it one step at a time, and not try to rush through things. Depending on your current level of shyness or social anxiety, you can start by taking baby steps at a time, till you feel more comfortable doing bigger things.

For instance, if you are currently cooped at home the whole day because going out makes you feel uncomfortable, then start by going out to different places once a week. Feel the awkwardness as you start to step out of your comfort zone, till you do not feel as awkward anymore. Or if you are currently studying, you can start by raising your hands to ask questions in the middle of the class, even though you might attract a lot of unwanted attention. Doing these simple and little baby steps over time will eventually help you to get rid of your shyness or social anxiety.

Why this method works very well is because you are allowing your mind to get used to these situations. When you stop avoiding certain situations or your fears, you allow your mind to slowly get desensitized to them, and you would not feel these emotions or feelings anymore.

I hope that this simple method has helped you to learn more about how to get rid of shyness. Feel free to look around the website for more tips and tricks on how to overcome this!
